Our 2014 Free trees program is now accepting applications from Landcare members and the general community. Landcare members can access 120 to 200 trees at no cost for proejcts on their own properties, depending on demand. Community members can access up to 40 trees for projects on their properties.
This project is supported by the Waubra Wind Farm Community Fund Inc.

As part of Springfest activities, the Cardigan Landcare Group organised a walk back in time through the series of wetlands from Lake Wendouree to Winter Swamp to explain how they operate, interact and support the local ecology.
22 people enjoyed some brisk Ballarat weather for a walk through what was the old Ballarat Common to visit the various wetlands.

Members at Snake Valley have seen the new ways gorse can be controlled on their properties as part of the ongoing facilitated project for gorse removal underway in the Group area.
The project is being supported by the Gorse task Force Inc.

Gorse plants post spraying, Lexton
In 2013 Lexton and Beaufort Landcare undertook 10 projects with landholders to continue creating links between the areas of high landscape integrity within the area.

Plenty of seeds about, these two parrots, along with another pair were spotted along the Forest Road at Lexton.

Recently Lexton Landcare completed a linkages in the landscape project, developing corridors between areas of high landscape integrity. To see more of what the project has done read the attached project overview. PO_Linkages in the Landscape
Pattersons Curse has began flowering across the area. Its distinctive purple flowers are now visible on roadsides and in paddocks.
Quick action is encouraged to minimise the seeding of this weed and to maximise its ongoing control. Control by pulling plants, or in larger infestations spraying, is desirable over the next month.
Key areas to be aware of the plant include Burnbank, Glenbrae, Miners Rest and Stoneleigh.
