Landscape and natural features

Natural resource management in Victoria is supported through Catchment Management Authorities.  In our area two authorities operate:

North Central Catchment Management Authority

Based in Bendigo this Authority looks after the northern catchments of the Avoca River, Bet Bet Creek and Loddon River, which drain into the Murray River.

Information about the region and the authorities activities is available at http:/www.nccma.vic.gov.au

Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority

Based in Hamilton this Authority looks after the southern catchments of the Burrumbeet Creek, Mount Emu Creek and Fiery Creek, which join the Hopkins river near Warrnambool and drain to the sea.

Information about the region and the authorities activities is available at http:/www.ghcma.vic.gov.au

Department of Environment and Primary Industries

This is the State Agency responsible for the management of land and water, and to assist private landholders in their management of the landscape.  In particular the agency is responsible for all aspects of agricultural production, weed and pest management.
